100th Post

This is my 100th blog post...and it's late. 1 day into lent and I'm already dropping the ball. Well, despite the fact that this is begin posted technically on Friday, I'm counting it as Thursdays post since it's before I'm going to bed. I think the thing that really cheapens this is that it's going to be really lame, cause I don't really have anything to say. This isn't the epic 100th that I was planning on having.

Well I suppose I can make this a self-referential post. My blog in review if you will. The number of hits I get are fairly low and there are apparently some random people who I don't think I know checking up on me, which is both kinda cool and kinda creepy. Over time this blog has become slightly more serious and academic than it started. It really started as an escape from academia, now it tends to serve as a retreat back into intellectuality. I can't help but think that all of the talk at Princeton about the lack of intellectuality on campus was fairly ridiculous. In comparison to the world I live in now, Princeton was rife with intellectual debate and discussion. I don't know how many times a political, ethical, or academic debate broke out over dinner during my time their. Now, I find it very difficult to find such discussions. It's not that people are capable of such discussions, I think it's just that they don't have the interest. Especially since much of my time is spent at home and my family couldn't care less about such things. This blog allows me a little bit of access to that. I think that's why I subscribed to Newsweek as well. It provides me an update of what's going on in the world and allows me to imagine what sorts of debates are occurring daily over quietest or the quad dinner table.
