One of the picks I know I made last year because I saw the previews in which NPH was being awesome. My feelings for NPH have not dwindled and despite the fact that the main character "Ted" wasn't such a whiney bitch. That reminds me I need to check in on NPH's character's blog, "Barney's Blog." SUIT UP!

Heroes - NBC - Sepember 25th
How can I not give this one a shot. It's about people around the world who suddenly discover that they have super powers. I think it's a really cool concept and I really enjoy watching shows and movies in which the characters have to deal with something really unusual. There's still a good chance that this show could suck, but it has Weiss from Alias, so I'm on board for now. If only there was a shoe with Marshall in it...

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip - NBC - September 18th
Aaron Sorkin the creator of Sports Night and The West Wing is starting up a new series which is basically about what happens back stage of shows like SNL. Actually I think it's really just about what happens backstage of SNL. NBC actually has 2 shows with this concept and I plan on watching both. This one is what I would call a comedic drama, the other one a dramatic comedy. In any case Matthew Perry looks like he may be putting on his first decent performance outside of Friends and Amanda Peet and D.L Hughley are usually entertaining and they're both in it. The real draw though is Aaron Sorkin, Sports Night was a pretty funny and gripping show and while I never saw West Wing, I've heard good things. So we're definitley going to give this one a shot.

Friday Night Lights - NBC - October 3rd
I don't actually know much about this one. It strikes me as interesting and there's nothing else on at that time slot that I'm all that interested. NCIS is, which was one of my picks for last year, but that show has failed to keep my attention. I should probably check out the movie Friday Night Lights before the show starts up.

Veronica Mars - CW - October 3rd
I've been catching up on season 2 which have been airing over the summer. I totally missed season 1 but that hasn't really affected my appreciation of the second season. It seems to be a show that, while it arcs over a single season, it's not very dependant on knowing what happened in previous seasons, although it's probably helpful for understanding certain character interactions. In any case this show is a really big underground hit and if you watch a couple of episodes you will no doubt no well. The characters and the stories are really compelling and their aren't many other shows out there that hinge on the investigation of a crime over a whole season. Not to mention the fact that the major crimes for each season tend to be very personal and emotional which helps to drive it as a whole. It also does an excellent job of juggling several arcing story lines at the same time. Actually come to think of it, Veronica does a really good job of juggling all the cases she's investigating at the same time. All in all it's a really fun show.

30 Rock - NBC - October 11th
This being NBC's other show about the backstage of SNL, this one headed by Tina Fey. I have a lot of respect for Fey's abilities as a writer. She was the head writer for SNL for a while, which while it isn't all that funny, there were certainly points where she shined. In addition she wrote Mean Girls, which was quite a funny movie. In any case there's a number of SNL alums in this as well and one of the most frequent guest hosts, Alec Baldwin, plays the Lorne Michaels type character. I've seen some previews, it looks funny, I'm in.

Who watches tv on these days? Well actually I'll probably be watching college football on saturday afternoons. My boss's wife is a Nebraska nut and they said they'd take me to a bar to watch the games. Sounds like fun
